USTfields Initiative
NALGEP is partnering with the Northeast-Midwest Institute and HAZMED to provide assistance and tools to local communities seeking to clean up and redevelop abandoned gas stations and tank sites. Funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the USTfields Redevelopment Initiative is convening representatives of the initial 10 USTfields pilots to identify critical barriers and develop strategies to overcome shared obstacles.
Project Objectives:
- Showcase effective state-local partnerships that promote UST site reuse;
- Identify UST redevelopment barriers; and
- Develop strategies to overcome shared obstacles.
Project Activities:
- Conducting research on the accomplishments and obstacles of the 10 USTfields pilots.
- Facilitating conference calls to share information on successful UST redevelopment approaches;
- Preparing case studies of effective local-state partnership efforts; and
- Providing ongoing technical assistance.
