Join NALGEP

NALGEP is made up of over 200 members, representing communities ranging in size from the largest cities to much smaller rural communities.  NALGEP members can be found throughout the structure of local government, including environmental managers, solid waste coordinators, public works directors, brownfields directors, economic development officials, planning directors, and attorneys—all working on behalf of towns, cities, counties and municipal associations.

NALGEP actively fosters strong relations with non-governmental organizations and the private sector as an effective way to serve the needs of our members.  These entities are eligible for an Associate Membership with NALGEP. The Associate Membership is intended to strengthen relationships between local government environmental professionals and the community without undercutting the responsibilities of our members to open, competitive and impartial decision making.  Including Associate Members in the NALGEP network allows our members to tap specialized expertise, share research and policy analysis, and collaboratively develop informed and innovative environmental protection programs.

As a member of NALGEP, you can:

-Participate in a growing network of local officials finding creative solutions to today’s environmental challenges;

-Receive the latest news on federal environmental policies and financial and technical assistance available to cities, towns, and counties through email alerts and the monthly News Flash;

-Have access to free and discounted web casts featuring case studies on how local governments are implementing new and innovative environmental policies and programs;

-Receive discounts on NALGEP events such as regional workshops and an annual summit;

-Participate in regional meetings and work groups that create programming to aid local governments in tackling some of the more challenging environmental issues, such as Brownfields Revitalization, Smart Growth, and Energy and Climate Change;

-Support an effective voice for local governments in shaping federal policies and programs.

"NALGEP allows local government environmental professionals to keep in touch and discuss complex issues and lessons learned from one another.  This is particularly helpful for cities that are in the midst of redeveloping contaminated and abandoned sites."

--Dr. Vincent Nathan, City of Detroit, MI

"NALGEP keeps me informed on developments in Washington, DC, and I am constantly learning from the challenges and successes of other members."
